Why Weeds Succeed: A live event for science educators on teaching photosynthesis
09.18.2024 | 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
There’s no better example for teaching plant science than the MOST successful plants on earth: WEEDS.
Educators: if you teach biology, environmental science, ecology, middle school science, or photosynthesis in your classroom, Why Weeds Succeed is for you.
During this hour-long LIVE event, we’ll weed out the mysteries of plant science with the Ohio State University’s Dr. Alyssa Essman, Assistant Professor in Weed Science, and from experienced science teachers.
Join us online at 4:00 pm as we discuss:
- How do weeds and soybeans interact?
- What happens in a university bioresearch department?
- How does studying weeds fit into what we currently teach?
Prepare to sprout some serious plant science success with your students!
By the end of the event, you’ll:
- know why weeds and soybeans are a good example of biological and chemical processes
- understand how to use weeds and soybeans as examples in your classrooms to meet the standards
- be able to design lessons and find resources on weed science to address standards
