The 2024 Ohio STEM Innovation Summit is thrilled to announce Dr. Knatokie Ford as the keynote speaker. Dr. Ford’s expertise in creating a sense of belonging in education aligns deeply with the summit’s theme of “Building Tomorrow Together.”

A native of Akron, Ohio, Dr. Ford’s experience includes her time as Senior Policy Advisor at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. There, she managed the “Image of STEM” project, aimed at inspiring more students to pursue STEM fields.

Dr. Ford’s impact extends beyond policy. She has served on the Barbie Global Advisory Board and as a science consultant for Netflix’s Ada Twist, Scientist and Disney Junior’s Eureka!. Her work has been featured in the Wondrium “STEM for All” series, showcasing her dedication to empowering students.

With her unique insights and dedication to addressing barriers that limit participation in STEM education and careers, Dr. Ford will inspire attendees to leverage the varied strengths and experiences within Ohio’s STEM community. Her keynote address will reinforce the summit’s mission of strengthening the state’s STEM workforce by expanding access and opportunity in the classroom and beyond.

As Ohio’s economy grows with initiatives like Intel’s chip factories and the First Lady’s Workforce Hub, the demand for a robust and inclusive STEM workforce has never been greater. Dr. Ford’s keynote will underscore the importance of equipping educators and community partners to build a future where every student can excel in STEM, regardless of background.
