STEMthusiasts community of practice – The conundrum of remote learning and equity

06.18.2020 | 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

The Ohio STEM Learning Network, Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, and our partners want to make sure that we nurture and feed STEM instructor needs for the continuation of design thinking, even in a remote environment. Join us in a community of practice forum where we look at best practices, share designs for engaged inquiry in a remote setting and augment your ability to promote creative problem solving during the COVID-19 school closures.

Each week, we will bring you the best STEM thought leaders, design ideas, interactive dialogue with other STEM instructors and free tools to support you in making instructional decisions that fit today’s limitations.

If you are an experienced STEM educator, your experiences are exactly what we need!  And if you’re an inquiring learner in STEM, have we got ideas for you!

Knowing that we may have remote learning in our future, how do we assist students in the implementation of experimental design and hands-on learning experiences in a virtual setting while considering equity of access to materials and assistance in the process?

In this session, we will analyze conditions, standards and designs for home learning in STEM/STEAM. Using the design thinking process in a community of practice, together we will produce designs for implementation strategies for the 2020-2021 school year. to register if you want a certificate of participation, or just join the Zoom!
