Dr. Sandra Wilder is a STEM education leader, researcher, and practitioner who currently serves as Director of the Ohio STEM Learning Network at Battelle.
Dr. Wilder began her career in the classroom, teaching mathematics through inquiry- and problem-based learning before becoming a district instructional specialist in Akron Public Schools. She holds a Ph.D. in Curricular and Instructional Studies and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from The University of Akron, where her doctoral work explored gender differences in college students’ math anxiety. Her scholarship now spans more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics such as problem-based learning, parental involvement, and productive struggle.
Beyond her research and program leadership, Dr. Wilder actively serves the STEM profession. Whether coaching teachers and teams, collaborating with state agencies, or supporting leaders in transforming their schools, she remains driven by a single mission—advancing innovation and curiosity so every student can thrive in a future powered by STEM.
