Lander Elementary School serves approximately 500 students in grades K-5th from the Mayfield Heights Community. We consider ourselves a family and work to ensure that our students feel safe and welcome in our school environment. The faculty and staff at Lander are dedicated to providing students with rigorous, personalized and authentic learning experiences in a safe and caring environment. Incorporating principles of STEM, we encourage innovation of lesson delivery, student learning, and student assessment while still maintaining high expectations for all staff and students. Our school makerspace provides hands-on learning experiences and a place where the ideas of our students and staff materialize. Meeting the social-emotional needs of our students is a priority, this is done through the implementation of an aligned PBIS system and Responsive Classroom practices. Each student begins the school day being welcomed by caring staff and celebrating another day of learning with their classmates through the Morning Meeting structure. Our teachers work to design learning spaces that are congruent with the needs of their students and aligned to the innovative instruction that is occurring within their classrooms. At Lander, we work with families to engage them in our school community and partner with them to provide the best experiences possible for their children. We want students to leave our school each day wanting more and our 5th graders to leave at the end of the year empowered and challenging the Middle School to be ready to meet their needs.
