Tri-State STEM+M School, located in South Point, Ohio, Lawrence County, is a rural public school located in the Tri-State region of Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Tri-State STEM+M School is the first dedicated STEM School in the Appalachia region of Southern Ohio with open enrollment for students in Ohio. The school opened to students in Fall of 2017.
Tri-State STEM+M School utilizes student-directed learning methods and a mastery system of evaluations to foster innovation, collaboration, knowledge retention, and readiness for the workforce. Students can move at their own pace through “”Pathways at STEM”” and earn college credits from Ohio University or Marshall University. One of the goals of the school is to prepare students for STEM careers which will allow them to stay in our region and significantly impact our regional economy.
About the Tour
Participants will tour Tri-State STEM+M School, talk with teachers and students, and visit classrooms showcasing a rotation of STEM pathways in Manufacturing, Agriculture and Animal Science, Digital Art and Theater, Government, and Computer Science. Tri-State STEM+M School was one of the recipients of the Ohio STEM Learning Network Manufacturing Pathways Pilot grant funded by the Walton Family Foundation. This new program was launched to connect students to careers in manufacturing.
