About Matthew

Matthew Williams is a STEM Relationship Manager for the Ohio STEM Learning Network.

Matthew manages key partnerships related to Computer Science education strategy, supporting district and school leadership in creating plans to enhance access and participation in Computer Science. Before joining Battelle in 2024, Matthew served as a Regional Manager for the Microsoft TEALS Program for nearly four years, where he built teacher capacity and student interest in computer science across the Detroit Metropolitan Area, with a special focus on historically excluded students.

Born and raised in the Ohio, Matthew discovered his love for engineering in middle school through organizations like the National Society of Black Engineers and Black Data Processing Associates. These formative experiences shaped his career trajectory and commitment to ensuring all students have access to STEM education. After recognizing gaps in representation during his engineering career, Matthew dedicated his Master’s degree to studying diversity in STEM education.

Matthew founded Pipeline Connect, an education management company building networks of support to connect students to resources needed to navigate the education pipeline to STEM careers. Through this he was able to be deeply involved in strategic planning for Michigan’s STEM initiatives serving with organizations like Michigan STEM Partnership, MiSTEM, CSforDetroit, SE Michigan Stewardship Coalition, Connect 313 and The Downtown Boxing Gym.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on STEM from the University of Toledo. He believes that computer science can be “a tool to empower communities to solve problems” and is committed to making sure diverse voices and perspectives are included in the innovations of tomorrow.
