Self Organized Learning Environments (SOLE): A Path to Inquiry

StartSOLE: Let Learning Happen

An inquiry instructional strategy born from the work of Sugata Mitra’s Hole in the Wall Project is the focus of this virtual learning. In our 50 minute window together we will explore Self Organized Learning Environments (SOLE). Unlike PBL which takes a lot of time to front load and execute, SOLE is designed to happen in a class period with minimal prep time. It is a great tool to prepare learners and for that matter, teachers, for Problem or Project Based experiences. By the end of this condensed session, attendees will understand Mitra’s research, and be able to walk into class the next day with a SOLE session ready to go!

Your facilitator will be Sam Crews, manager of the OSLN Akron Hub.

Founder of @StartSOLE, Dr. Jeff McClellan says “Sam Crews has incredible experience as a facilitator of SOLE sessions and a StartSOLE Trainer. His experience as founding faculty at The National Inventors Hall of Fame STEM School uniquely positions him to understand the power of Self Organized Learning Environments and its potential to help students and teachers move toward STEM practices for all students. I have participated in his training sessions and know that he does an excellent job helping educators learn how to incorporate StartSOLE into their classrooms.”

This is event is free and open to anyone.
