METAL Forging Bootcamp flyer

The Metallurgical Engineering Trades Apprenticeship & Learning (METAL) program aims to reverse the decline of the U.S. casting and forging workforce while inspiring a new generation of metallurgical professionals. Guided by industry and faculty experts, students gain valuable insights and open doors to careers in metal casting and forging. METAL bootcamps offer an unparalleled opportunity to dive deep into the world of metallurgy. These one-week intensive programs, hosted on college campuses, are designed to ignite a passion for forging and casting in the next generation of innovators and builders.

By immersing yourself in hands-on experiences and learning directly from industry experts, you’ll gain invaluable insights into the fields of metallurgy and forging.

Led by the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) and supported by the Department of Defense, METAL aims to empower individuals and engage them in the field of metallurgy. The program is free of charge, but spaces are limited. We ask that you register only if you can attend all four days. Participants under the age of 18 require a parent or guardian present at all times.

Open to all—no background experience required.
