Ifrah Aliawl joined Battelle and the Ohio STEM Learning Network in 2022 as a STEM Project Specialist.
The first to attend and graduate from college in her family, Ifrah holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She also holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in chemistry education. She had the privilege of teaching chemistry, biology, computer science at the high school level for many years. She brings both her love for STEM and education to Battelle and the Ohio STEM Learning Network.
Originally from Somalia, Ifrah enjoys a strong connection with her diasporic community, tutoring and mentoring students, and advocating for education, and in particular for increasing diversity within STEM education and industry.
In her free time, Ifrah spends time with her son, her extended family and friends in the Columbus area, and Facetiming / Skyping with those close in heart but far in proximity. To stay young in mind and body, she also coaches soccer to young players. Additionally, as an avid supporter of the arts, she enjoys literature, theater, and music as often as she can.
