Metro Early College High School is a small and intellectually vibrant learning community open to to any student in Ohio, grades 9 – 12. Metro is designed to serve students who want a personalized and extraordinary learning experiences that prepare them for a connected world where math, science and technology are vitally important. All Metro students engage in a personally relevant and academically rigorous curriculum within a safe and trusting environment, which enables them to earn up to two years of college credit at no cost.
At the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year, the Metro leadership opened the Metro Early College Middle School to any student in Ohio, grades 6 – 8. The goal of starting the middle school is to prepare students even earlier to be engaged and successful learners with the hope that these students will continue their education at the high school. The middle school was official designated as an Ohio STEM School by the Ohio STEM committee on April 10, 2014.
Metro seeks students who are intellectually curious and motivated to achieve in a STEM environment. Students who attend Metro can participate in extracurricular activities at their home schools, but will receive a high school diploma from Metro.
Metro has a holistic approach to educating the students—focusing on cognitive, social, emotional and physical development through experiential learning, service learning and family and community support. Each family is an integral component of Metro’s decision-making process and this approach is reflected in habits listed below.
Since opening in 2006, Metro has sustained a graduation rate of 100% through three classes of seniors. These students received a total of $40,000,000 in scholarships.
