National Inventors Hall of Fame® Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics High School

Located on the University of Akron’s campus, the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics High School  is a part of Akron Public Schools. The high school opened in the fall of 2012 for ninth grade learners and an additional grade will be added each year until the school reaches capacity in the 2015-2016 school year. The NIHF STEM High School was officially designated as an Ohio STEM School on April 10, 2014, by the Ohio STEM Committee.

The NIHF STEM High School prepares students for entry into STEM-related career fields and has formed partnerships with various organizations that include the City of Akron, Greater Akron Chamber, University of Akron, Akron Tomorrow and Invent Now. Students have the opportunity to work with industry partners in STEM fields to gain real-world experiences before graduation.

The school’s vision is to provide learning experiences for students that:

  • Inspire creativity
  • Foster inventive and critical thinking
  • Cultivate leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Promote wellness and citizenship through science, technology, engineering and mathematics
