DESCRIPTION:For Ohio science teachers: chemistry\, biology\, food science\, and middle school\, or anyone who wants to reach students through the direct connection to their food. \nJoin us for a biology and food science workshop in which you’ll engage in hands-on labs\, compare foods across brands\, and learn about the conditions under which food is processed and packaged for consumers. \nIn this workshop\, participants will \n\nassess the Vitamin C content of various foods\nvisit the Mid-Ohio Farm to see innovation in agriculture\ndetermine how microbes in soil impact nutrients in plants\ntest the chemical/physical properties (and taste!) of emulsifiers and frying oils\nunderstand the importance of cleaning\, sanitizing\, and disinfecting in food safety\n\nAt the conclusion of the the workshop\, teachers will: \n\nKnow that different oils have different properties and purposes\nUnderstand the impact of hydroponics within food systems\nBe able to test for microbes and nutrients in various foods\n\nThis two-day workshop will include a day and a half of labs and activities\, an industry dinner and a field trip\, in addition to free classroom materials to all teachers who attend. 1.6 hours of contact time will be awarded for this workshop. Grad credit is available for a fee of $185 through Ashland University. \nFor Ohio middle and high school teachers only. \nSponsored by CIFT (Center for Innovative Food Technology) and the Ohio Soybean Council. \nGrowNextGen connects students to real-world science and careers in modern agriculture through the generous support of the Ohio Soybean Council and Ohio soybean farmers.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 23\, 2026\, for a dynamic\, one-day immersive skillshop designed for those on the front lines of youth support. In partnership with the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC) and ENGAGE Interactive Mental Health Solutions\, this ENGAGEment Lab provides educators (PK-College)\, mental health professionals\, community leaders\, and youth-serving nonprofits with the practical tools needed to navigate the growing challenges of worry\, anxiety\, and panic among youth. \nThis isn’t your typical sit-and-listen seminar. The ENGAGEment Lab is an active “skillshop” grounded in factually supported interventions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Participants will not only learn to regulate their own emotions. They will leave with a concrete “pitch” and implementation plan to bring these life-changing strategies back to their schools or organizations.

DESCRIPTION:The Fab Play – Maker Educator Institute is an annual gathering of like-minded creative spirits that just so happen to work in education! During this transformative week\, we will elevate one another’s crafts\, hone our skillsets\, immerse ourselves in hands-on experiential learning experiences\, prototype new ideas\, practice new machining techniques\, connect as a network\, share our challenges and best practices\, and celebrate our efforts from this past school year. \nOur annual Flagship Summer Institute draws maker educators from all over\, attending from traditional and non-traditional school settings. We welcome makerspace managers\, PBL-focused educators\, curriculum coordinators and administrators\, library makerspace coordinators\, college Fab Lab personnel\, industry experts\, and teachers just looking to expand their hands-on abilities and create something for themselves or their students. \nEach day begins with a rapid share of project ideas and examples\, open to all at the Institute\, then moves into scheduled sessions while allowing opportunities for open exploration and making. Friday concludes with a showcase of work completed throughout the Institute. We also host a network social on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Now\, we’re inviting you to step out of the classroom and join us for an immersive\, two-day road trip through the heart of Ohio’s most innovative schools. \nThis isn’t just a tour—it’s an “under-the-hood” look at how high-quality pathways are built and sustained. You’ll engage in raw\, honest conversations with the administrators\, teachers\, and students who are living these programs every day. Discover how these four schools connect academics\, career exploration\, and readiness with work-based learning and earning industry-recognized credentials of value. Whether you represent a small rural district or a large suburban one\, you will walk away with a toolkit of fresh ideas and the renewed energy to launch\, expand\, or elevate the pathways in your own community. Explore the Inventionland Innovation Lab\, the mechanical technician program\, and the Industry 4.0 (Agribusiness and Production) pathway\, which is a unique mix of advanced manufacturing and agriculture. \nRiverside High School – Painesville\, OH\n–Witness hands-on technical training and explore high-demand programs in Healthcare\, Advanced Manufacturing\, Construction\, and Welding. \nPerry High School – Perry\, OH\n–Dive into career prep programs\, including the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program\, the Eastern Lake County Welding Hub\, and the Perry Home Renovation project.
