SUMMARY:Ohio MS CTE Waivers Are Going Away! What Leaders Need to Know and Do
DESCRIPTION:Ohio Law requires each city\, local\, and exempted village school district to provide career-technical education to students enrolled in grades seven and eight. But\, for many years\, districts could complete a waiver so they didn’t have to meet this requirement. Recently\, H.B. 66 eliminated the CTE waivers effective for the 2026-2027 school year. This means that next year\, every school in Ohio that serves students in grades seven and eight will be required to offer CTE coursework to those students. While many schools already offer these courses\, over 34% of Ohio schools do not. \nEnvisionEdPlus is hosting a FREE live virtual session\, Ohio MS CTE Waivers Are Going Away! What Leaders Need to Know and Do to assist any school in thinking through the implications of this legislation. This session will also benefit new administrators who are unfamiliar with MS CTE programming and requirements. During this 60-minute session\, we will cover: \nKey requirements for providing CTE to students in grades seven and eight \nUpdates regarding the change in when CTE 26 forms can be submitted \nLicensure requirements to teach CTE to students in grades seven and eight \nThis session is free\, but registration is required. DESCRIPTION:ChickQuest\, a Classroom Journey Through the Life Cycle of Chickens\, is a 4-H School Enrichment Program that challenges students to use Science\, Engineering\, and Technology to investigate the life cycle of an embryonic chicken egg.\nFrom monitoring living eggs to observing fluffy chicks\, these lively activities pique curiosity\, encourage collaboration and communication\, and provide young scientists with unforgettable experiences.\nTeachers attending this 1-day professional workshop will engage in hands-on learning activities designed by teachers for elementary scientists. \nEach teacher will receive: \n\nteacher guide\nscience log books—(set of 25 student log books)\nincubator and egg turner\nfertilized egg coupon\nkit that includes experiment supplies\nlunch\none day of professional development training for the teacher\n0.7 CEUs\n\nTeachers and administrators are saying: \n“ChickQuest is one of the best teacher programs I’ve been involved in. The enthusiasm was contagious. I feel ready to help my students better understand life cycles of living things. DESCRIPTION:ChickQuest\, a Classroom Journey Through the Life Cycle of Chickens\, is a 4-H School Enrichment Program that challenges students to use Science\, Engineering\, and Technology to investigate the life cycle of an embryonic chicken egg. From monitoring living eggs to observing fluffy chicks\, these lively activities pique curiosity\, encourage collaboration and communication\, and provide young scientists with unforgettable experiences.  \nThe Ohio Soybean Council\, Meyer Hatchery\, and OSU Extension are providing this curriculum for elementary teachers in Ohio during the 2022-2023 school year. \nEach teacher will receive: \n\nTeacher Guide\nScience log books—(set of 25 student log books)\nincubator and egg turner\nfertilized egg coupon\nkit that includes experiment supplies\none day of professional development training for the teacher\n\nTeachers receive .7 CEUs for attending this workshop. \n“Your program is one of the the best teacher programs I’ve been involved in.
