The Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) is designed to challenge and engage students (Grades 9-12) in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) research. Individual students compete for scholarships and recognition by presenting the results of their original research efforts before a panel of judges and an audience of their peers.
JSHS invites high school students to report on the results of their original research investigations in STEM and compete for scholarships and recognition at university-held regional symposia. In Ohio, the symposium is annually held at Bowling Green State University and sponsored by BGSU and the Northwest Ohio Center for Excellence in STEM Education at BGSU. All Ohio students in grades 9-12 enrolled in public, private, or home schools are eligible to participate in their local Regional Symposium.
