DESCRIPTION:Let’s build a STEM Culture and create a hands-on experience for students in our classroom\, identify community partners\, and identify assessments in a STEM classroom. \nIf you want to begin implementing more inquiry in your classroom or are an experienced STEM instructor or want to refresh your curriculum join us in this cohort. \nTeams of educators encouraged\, but not required. \nAre you a dedicated educator looking to inspire and empower your students by implementing STEM/STEAM practices in your classroom? Do you want to make a lasting impact on student identity in STEM/STEAM? Join our cohort of like-minded educators and become a catalyst for student success! \nWhat We Know: STEM/STEAM education is shaping the world we live in. By integrating STEM/STEAM instruction\, you can cultivate critical thinking\, problem-solving\, and collaboration skills in your students. STEM/STEAM education opens doors to exciting career opportunities in high-demand fields and our K-12 educational experiences that shape their future as learning is linked to life. \nWhat We Offer: \n\nComprehensive training for implementation of STEM/STEAM pedagogy founded in rich problems for students to solve using design thinking.\nAccess to a wide range of activities and designs through the focused fellowship of Ohio educators that ignite curiosity and foster creativity.\nConnection to a community of passionate STEM/STEAM educators as they share ideas\, collaborate and innovate teaching and learning.\nMentorship\, research opportunities and a change to contribute to cutting-edge STEM/STEAM projects with Ohio STEM/STEAM focused employers.\n\nCurriculum building cohort and workshop at the PAST Foundation\nFirst meeting of the program will run August 14-15\, 2023; 9am-2:30pm \nWork collaboratively as a team with PAST instructional designers and teaching & learning specialists \nMeet as a group four times during the cohort program. \nAugust 14 & 15\, 2023–1st convening 9-2:30\nOctober 27\, 2023–2nd convening–9-2:30\nDecember 8\, 2023–3rd convening–9-2:30\nFebruary 23\, 2024–4th convening–9-2:30 \nParticipants examine established standards and best practices in STEM instructional design; explore innovative ways for creating engaging and effective experiences; self-assess and peer-review each other’s courses. \nFlyer: August 14_15 Workshop Flyer (osln.org)
