What is STEM education?
STEM is much more than the four subject areas that form it’s acronym. STEM is a unique approach to teaching and learning that fosters creativity and innovative thinking in all students.
STEM education is a direct response to the realization that other states and nations are gaining competitive advantage by asserting their scientific and technological leadership, and that Ohio’s future will be built on its own capacity for innovation, invention and creative problem solving. STEM education produces exactly the kind of thinkers, innovators and problem solvers such a world demands.

Regional STEM Training Centers
To meet the growing demand for STEM professional development, we equipped and developed eight regional STEM training centers across the state. Each training center is designed to highlight the strengths of the STEM platform schools in that region and provide a vehicle to spread STEM effective practices across Ohio.
Example training topics include problem- and project-based learning, intersessions, ASSISTments, FAB LAB, student-led conferences, STEM school design and development, technology integration, mastery and college ready tools.
