2021-2022 Code.org professional development opens, apply now!

Computing is a fundamental part of today’s world, but most Ohio students don’t have an opportunity to learn this critical skill. You can make a difference by learning how to teach Computer Science to your students!

Applications are open now for a new cohort of Ohio teachers to join Code.org’s Computer Science Professional Learning Program.

Code.org’s Professional Learning Program is an intensive, year-long learning experience for middle and high school educators interested in teaching Code.org’s Computer Science Discoveries (middle school) or Computer Science Principles (high school) courses.

Participants will explore Computer Science curriculum and tools, experiment with specific teaching strategies, and join a local community of teachers using this curriculum.

Teachers who apply and are accepted must:

  • Complete the five-day, summer workshop July 12-16, 2021 (Workshop may be in-person in Columbus, Ohio or virtual – Decision announced soon)
  • Attend four local one-day, in-person workshops (on Saturdays throughout the school year)*
  • Depending upon level of interest, we may also offer a virtual option for teachers. You can mark on the application if this is something that is of interest to you.
  • Teach the course during the 2021-22 school year
  • Support the recruitment and enrollment of a diverse group of students in the course, representative of the school’s overall student population.

The curriculum, online student learning platform, and year-round support are available to all schools at no charge. Please note, implementing the courses do require that students have access to computers with a modern web browser.
